Hola amigos: The National Puerto Rican Day Parade, Inc. announces preparations for the vibrant Annual Parade to be held on Sunday, June 10, 2012 on Fifth Avenue. The Grand Marshal for the Puerto Rican Day Parade, leading the festivities, will be the president of Hostos Community College: Felix Matos Rodriguez. He was named Grand Marshal of the parade Tuesday to complement this year’s theme, which celebrates Puerto Ricans and their higher education achievements.
“It’s really an honor bestowed on the college as a whole,” Rodriguez said.
Rodriguez grew up in Puerto Rico and graduated cum laude in Latin American studies from Yale before earning a Ph.D. in history from Columbia University.
